In the month of September WERA Motorcycle Roadracing has events all across the United States in all Regions and we would like to invite any licensed motorcycle roadracer who does not have a WERA License or has not experienced an event with WERA Motorcycle Roadracing to come out and run with us on a $30.00 weekend license. If you decide you like us you can upgrade to a full 12 month license for an additional $80.00 if you do it within 30 days of the event.

WERA Motorcycle Roadracing rider, Rob Gette, age 38, from Charlotte, NC lost his life while racing at the Cycle Jam event at Virginia International Raceway. Gette succumbed to injuries sustained in a three machine accident coming into Turn 14. The other two riders will recover from their injuries. Condolences go to Rob’s family and friends – he will be missed by his WERA family – Godspeed Rob.

hursday at the WERA Cycle Jam running at VIR the WERA Vintage Series ran inbetween practice sessions and Robin Scudder won 250 GP; David Roper won 500GP; EricMercer took the V2 win; Tim Joyce won V3 and V4; Thad Stamper won V5; Jim Hinshaw wonFormula 2-Stroke;McKee won V6 Lightweight.
Qualifying for Sunday’s Michelin/WERA National 600 Superstock Class concluded withminutes to spare before Mother Nature came in with a real gully washer Virginia storm….PJJacobsen was the top qualifier with Garrett Gerloff, Benny Solis, Jr., Same Gaige and JustinHoldermann rounding out the top five. The field is 18 deep as of Thursday and should prove tobe a very exciting race.
Round #6 of the Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance Series was part of the 2010WERA Cycle Jam at VIR and ran on Friday for 4 hours with temperatures in the 90s. After 4hours it was #3 Team Zyvax R1, riders were Ben Bostrom, Chris Clark and Jason DiSalvo with155 laps taking the top spot on the podium followed by #72 BEI Racing with their first appearancein the 2010 Series with riders Billy Etheridge, Lee Acree and Taylor Knapp on the big SuzukiGSX-R 1000 with 151 laps and rounding out the podium was #99 Army of Darkness with BenWalters, Sam Flemming and Scott Harwell on their YamahaR1. In the Mediumweight SuperbikeClass #7 Team Zyvax R6 with Dane Westby and Clint Sellers on their Yamaha 600 made acomeback after a crash in hour 2 to take the win in the Class with #14 CnR Motorsports on theirDucati 848 with Mark Crozier and Greg White taking second and #136 TVR 136 on their Yamaha600 rounding out the podium with Shane Williams and Abraham Stacey sharing the riding duties,the Lightweight Class saw #15 Cannoli Racing taking the win in their second endurance withCassidy Heiser, Bobby Kim and West Coast Lightweight Ace Zoran Vujasivnovic taking theSuzuki SV to the lead; second went to #27 Team Kinetic with Luke Echols, Chris Parrish and RobTurner on their Suzuki SV and third was #667 Neighbor of the Beast with Melissa Berkoff, BrianKracget and Russell Masecar sharing duties – they were in the lead but a crash near the endof the 4th hour with Kracget piloting the SV 650 put them 3rd . For Cycle Jam the Trophy Classsaw 3 entries and V7 All Stars took the win with their Hon 600 Ken Johnson, John Trautman andAlfred Cantu 2nd place was the all women’s team Striper Glitter on as Yamaha 600 with VirginieMassing, Katie Carney, Jane Holmes and West Coast WERA rider Krystyna Kubran, 3rd was#999 Team B.A.R. on their Honda 600, riding were Father and Son Adrian Brinkley and ChrisBrinkley along with Daniel Wallace.
Saturday will see the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman riders taking the track and on Sunday theMichelin/WERA National Challenge riders will put on the show.

The Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance Series along with the Michelin/ WERA National Sprints and the Pirelli/WERA Regional Sportsman Series invade the Virginias in the upcoming weeks!
The first stop will be at Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point West Virginia with Round #5 of the Series on July 30/31 and August 1. Friday will have practice and qualifying for the 600 Superstock Class and Saturday the Bridgestone/WERA Endurance Teams will take on Summit Point Raceway for 6 hours. Among the teams will be Team Zyvax R1 and Team Zyvax R6 with riders Eric Bostrom, Chris Clark, Dane Westby, and Clinton Sellers; the Hooters/Apex Team with Tim Hunt , Skip Salenius and Pat Mooney; the TVR 131 Team with Chuck Ivey, Scott Brown and Jimmy Vanderhaar, they will be joined by several hard charging Lightweight Teams and local teams will come out to challenge them on their home turf!
Sunday will bring the Michelin/WERA National Sprints combined with the Pirelli/ WERA Regional Sprints for action packed racing. See who will come out in the points lead in the WERA Superbike Class where American Honda has a bounty of $35,000.00 for the winner if they are on a Honda CBR1000RR. Brian Stokes holds the point lead going into Round #5 with Tim Hunt and local favorite Tim Bemisderfer hot on his heels.
Then if you need a repeat of all the great action follow WERA Motorcycle Roadracing down to Virginia International Raceway in Danville, VA for the annual Cycle Jam and Round #6 of the Pro-Am Series starting on Thursday, August 5th with a practice and Vintage Racing day, Friday will see the Teams of the Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance take on the winding VIR course for 4 hours, Saturday the Pirelli/WERA Regional riders will have their day and on Sunday the Michelin/WERA National Sprints take center stage. The Cycle Jam is an “event” with multi-regional Pirelli/WERA Sportsman classes joining the Pro-Am WERA National Challenge Series.
Camping is available at both tracks and tickets can be purchased at the gate for both events. Come out and see if you can pick out the stars of the future at these WERA Motorcycle Roadracing events.
August 21/22 will see the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series at Talladega Gran Prix in Talladega, AL.

WERA Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc is one of the oldest and largest national sanctioning bodies conducting motorcycle races at road courses across the United States. 2004 marked the 30th Anniversary for WERA Motorcycle Roadracing. There are over 3,000 motorcycle roadracers holding a competition license, with over 135 Lifetime Members (held a Competition License for ten consecutive years) 75 Mini License holders.
