WERA Motorcycle Roadracing will start the month of August on the 2/3 weekend with two double header rounds of the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series – one at Virginia International Raceway for the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Region riders and the other will be at Grattan Raceway in Michigan for the Northcentral riders.
For the August 16/17 weekend the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series will be at Nelson Ledges in Warren, OH. This event will have Vintage Racing and Solo Racing on Saturday and Sprint Racing on Sunday. News is that the track has made some much needed repairs to the surface that will allow this event to happen – more repairs are scheduled for the future as well.
August 23/24 will see the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series go to Talladega Gran Prix in Alabama. This event is scheduled as a Vintage and Solo Racing Saturday and Sprint races on Sunday.
All these events offer a Riders School on Saturday. Tickets available at the gate and camping is available at all venues. Kids under 12 are free!
WERA Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc is one of the oldest and largest national sanctioning bodies conducting motorcycle races at road courses across the United States. 2004 marked the 30th Anniversary for WERA Motorcycle Roadracing. There are over 3,000 motorcycle roadracers holding a competition license, with over 135 Lifetime Members (held a Competition License for ten consecutive years) 75 Mini License holders. WERA offers rider's schools and entry level motorcyle racing for anyone with a motorcycle and offers three types of motorcycle racing.
